About UsJason Cooke 1st Dan
Jason Senior club coach at Calne, Chippenham and Yate Judo clubs.
Jason started judo aged seven and progressed slowly before focussing on judo from age twelve onwards. He acheived junior Dan grade at age fifteen jumping from brown to black and then jumped 2 grades to senior black aged seventeen. He joined the BJA in 2008 and in a single grading was awarded the maximum allowed grade of high brown, winning all nine of his contests by Ippon with eight being throws and one by holddown. Jason says "I never had a huge desire to compete and really should have entered more competitions. But I've done well in the competitions I have entered. Now my focus is on coaching I get a huge amount of satisfaction in seeing students develop and reach their potential." Jason is CRB checked and first aid qualified and a recognised EUDO coach.

Daniel Pankhurst 1st Dan
Dan started training in judo in February 2006 after coming along to watch some friends practice. Dan says; "The freindly atmoshphere of the club and the skill and knowledge of the instructors was immediately obvious to me and I felt the urge to get on the mat and give it a go and I haven't looked back since! My fitness has greatly improved and I enjoy learning and testing new skills and techniques. I was awarded my 1st Dan at the team competition in May 2008. I didn't know I was going to receive my black belt as everyone had kept quiet about it, it was a nice suprise. I look forward to further increasing my knowledge and abilities and helping others do the same." Jack Conroy
Jack says; "I started doing judo when I was five and have been doing judo for nine years. I want to get as high as possible in my black belt and I'm currently a brown belt with three black tags. I do judo because I enjoy it" Jack was awarded his junior black belt in December 2009 Jack is currently undertaking part one of the Shodan coaching qualification. Natasha Dorman
Natasha says; "I have been doing judo since October 2005. I like doing judo because it really builds your confidence and you will always know how to defend yourself if you get into trouble on the streets. I have also made alot of friends from doing judo, not just from Chippenham but from Calne as well. Like any other judoka I would love to go to the Olympics and represent the Country. But more than anything I would love to get my black belt." Natasha is currently undertaking part one of the Shodan coxhing qualification. Toby Levy
Toby Says; "Well, abit about myself. I started judo back in 2003 and since then have managed to achieve my junior black belt. I enjoy teaching and I get a real thrill from competing in our club competitions, especially since I now enter as a senior. Judo is not only a great way to get fit but a great way to build a positive charater and learn how to act responsibly amng a wide age group. I wholeheartedly recommend judo to anyone of any age." Quotes"I saw my kids having so much fun I couldn't resist getting on the mat myself" "Know your enemy and know yourself and you can fight a hundred battles without disaster. When the enemy is at ease, be able to weary him; when well fed, to starve him; when at rest, to make him move" |
