Shodan Feedback ResponseThank you for your recent feedback comments. Feedback forms are available at any time from the reception desk. Response to some of the issues raised follows: Grading FeeWe can totally appreciate that £13.50 does appear to seem a lot for a grading especially if you have more than one child doing the grading. The £13.50 is made up of a £10 grading fee plus the normal £3.50 session fee. Due to historical reasons the grading fee at Calne Judo is payable to eudo and so if the normal session fee is not charged then Shodan would be in deficit to the sum of the hall fee. The grading fee is set by eudo. We have decided to include the session fee at both Chippenham and Corsham for consistency as many of our members attend more then one club. The £10 grading fee is the standard eudo fee and is cheaper then other Judo clubs and much cheaper then gradings for other martial arts. Please feel free to do some research for your self and if you find grading fees cheaper at any other Judo or martial arts club then please bring it to our attention as we do aim to be affordable for all. A major benefit of being a member of eudo as opposed to other associations is that club instructors who know the students capabilities best can carry out our gradings during club night sessions at our normal venue. With the BJA, all students attend a regional grading, which takes place on a Sunday. Adult supervision is needed and students need to register at around 9am but wont be awarded new grades until around 4pm or later even though the actual time spent on the mat may only be half an hour. Aside from the inconvenience of this there is also the cost of fuel. BJA gradings used to take place in Salisbury although to be fair this was many years ago and regional gradings for this area now take place in Hanham in Bristol under the format described above. BJA gradings are very strict with regimental conditions, which puts their students under a great deal of pressure. We expect a certain standard of behaviour at Shodan gradings, but they are designed to put our students under minimum pressure and stress. Other points to consider with regards to grading fee are:
Discount SchemeWe do have a discount system in place where if your child attends two Judo sessions in the same week they get the second session for £1.50. More details are on the News page of this website. Our £3.50 fee is that standard rate for Judo in this area with some clubs charging more. We are looking into setting up a discount for paying block session fees and hopefully this is something we can get established in the very near future. Sexy Judo ManYes it is true that I am a very, very, very sexy judo man but I can not confirm that I am the world sexiest Judo man, although it probably is the case!!!! Best Regards Jason Cooke |
