Shodan Judo News

There is a new session at the Leisure centre in Marlborough on a Monday night. The session time is from 6.15pm - 7.15pm with the session cost being £3.50.

A Second Club night for the Chippenham club has been confirmed. Details are as follows: Tuesdays at The Olympiad starting 29th September 6.00 - 7.00pm,

£1.50 for first session and then £3.50 per session with first session FREE for all current Chippenham Judo Club members.

£1.50 special discount does not apply between Chippenham sessions but between Town Clubs only, such as Chippenham to Calne or Yate.

There is NO FEE for Chippenham club members identified as Junior coaches or potential Junior coaches to attend the new Olympiad session.
Check with sensei Paul and Jason to see if you are one of the lucky few!

There is also a session starting in YATE at Yate Leisure Centre, Wednesdays 6.30 - 7.30pm. This session will replace the session we currently have at Luckington starting on 16th September

Again the fee is £3.50 per session for members with first session only £1.50!

Sunday October 11th saw the third annual Shodan Cup Competition held at St Dunstan School in Calne. Competing for the trophy in individual weight categories were Calne, Chippenham and Trowbridge Judo Clubs. The previous competitions had been held in a great atmosphere and good spirit between the competitors and this year was no exception.

Last years winning club was Trowbridge who had a big squad of players and all of which performed to a very high standard, winning the majority of medals and the trophy by some margin. This years winning club was Chippenham Judo club who won the competition for the first time and will attempt to become the first club to retain the trophy next year....... The first of the Shodan syllabus DVDs is here and available to buy!!!

At Shodan Judo we know some people struggle to remember all there is to know for gradings and, looking at the available DVDs, we saw that most of them look at a few techniques only. So with this in mind we decided to create our own sreies of DVD titles. Each DVD will cover an entire grade syllabus and in the case of the first DVD the White to Orange Belt techniques are on one DVD!

While the DVDs won't get you to Olympic standard, they will be a useful training aid to all novice and intermediate grades looking to aid their knowledge of techniques.

Further releases will cover grades from Green to Brown. There are also plans to release titles on the Nage No Kata as required by Shodan Judo and also a DVD on counters and combinations. Both of which are requirements for Green belt and above with Shodan judo.

The cost of the DVDs will be £10 to Shodan Judo members and £12 to non members.

Our £3.50 fee is great value compared to other martial arts and now you can get even more Judo fun and games.

From June 07, if you attend a different club in addition to your usual one in the same week then you will only have to pay £1.50 for that session meaning both sessions cost only £5. So if your club is Corsham on a Monday and you attend Chippenham on a Thursday, then the Thursday session will cost just £1.50.

Members can save even more and have all the Judo you need by attending all three sessions in the same week with the second and third both costing £1.50 each. That is three and a quarter hours of Judo for just £6.50 saving almost 40%.

(Intermediate members can already attend a junior and senior session on the same club night for no additional fee and senior fees are not included)
